Mentoring Program
The HASAN Mentoring Program was launched in May 2001 out of the need for HASAN members to serve as a resource to HASA members on academic and career decisions as they go through their undergraduate studies.
Through the Mentoring Program, HASAN Mentors:
- impart knowledge on academic subject matters
- provide tips on study skills
- counsel on career choices
- assist with job-seeking strategies or applications to graduate school
- play the big sister/brother role when homesickness creeps in
There are currently more than 20 mentor-mentee matches who communicate primarily by email.
The first face-to-face meeting of mentors and mentees was in March 2002 during the HASA 25th Anniversary Celebration and HASAN’s 1st Annual Reunion.
The Mentoring Brunch, which was kindly hosted by Cabot House on the Harvard College campus, was very well attended and was a great success.
In March 2003, at the 2nd HASAN Annual Reunion, mentors and mentees had another opportunity to strengthen their relationships.
