Philippe E. Wamba Memorial Fund for Road Safety in Africa
On September 11, 2002, HASAN lost one of its beloved founding members, Philippe E. Wamba, in a fatal car crash in Kenya while he was conducting research on the challenges facing the youth in several African countries. In honor of Philippe's fine work and commitment to HASAN and the African Diaspora and in light of the circumstances under which he died, HASAN established a memorial fund in his name for the improvement of road traffic safety in Africa in November 2003. Our goal is to raise $100,000 over 5 years to support advocacy, research and training for the improvement of road traffic safety in sub-Saharan Africa.
